You'll have a great time at our Edinburgh B+B

Seriously, there are lots of Edinburgh tours available to help you become familiar with our great city, too many to mention here but Arthurs Seat is for me an unmissable attraction.

In addition when you stay at Edinburgh Bed and Breakfast we have all the Edinburgh tour brochures and we can advise you accordingly - from Historical tours to pub tours, ghost tours, Rebus tours and open top buses, you name it.

I am Jack Gold, Edinburgh born and bred. A southsider, brought up in Dalkeith Road beside Arthur's Seat which became like a playground for me as a child.

the hard way up arthurs seat

There are easy and difficult ways to scale Arthurs Seat - I can help you find the easy ways.

Whichever way, you will be tired at the end of it but it is well worth it for the amazing views from the top all around Edinburgh and across the Forth Estuary towards Fife and out to the North Sea.

To the south are the Pentland Hills and many others too.

See the panorama (left).

But wait - stop right there if you are thinking I will be your personal Sherpa driving you to Holyrood Park and guiding you up the lower slopes.

That will not happen (unless you pay me a lot of money!). Instead I will give you directions, advice and draw you maps.

There are so many things to see and do in Edinburgh
that you will need to come back for a second visit

Whether you’re booking our Edinburgh bed and breakfast accommodation for a special event, or just because you want to explore our wonderful city, we can give you plenty of advice on the things you should look out for:

The Festival

If you’re thinking of travelling to Edinburgh for its famous Festival, you’ll need to get your bed and breakfast booked early. The Festival is perhaps the city’s busiest time of year and theatre, music, art, comedy and film fans travel from all over the world to see the very best in serious and light entertainment. Our Edinburgh bed and breakfast is usually very busy during the Festival, so call ahead to make sure we have room.

Edinburgh Castle

One of the most-visited castles in the UK and certainly one of the city’s top attractions, Edinburgh Castle perches on an outcrop of rock overlooking the city. Dramatically lit at night and the home of the famous Edinburgh Tattoo, the Castle holds some of Scotland’s most precious treasures and the one o’clock gun is an experience not to be missed! By staying at our Edinburgh bed and breakfast, you are just a short car journey away from this fantastic day out.

Shopping

Edinburgh is famous for its shopping, from the eclectic John Lewis department store, to small cutting edge boutiques. Whether you’re looking for your family tartan, a piece of modern furniture for your home, or just a souvenir from your time in the city, you can find it in Edinburgh. Bring it all home to your Edinburgh bed and breakfast so that you can enjoy the fruits of your trip.

The Views

Edinburgh is blessed with a number of vantage points where you can take in the beauty of the city and its surrounding areas. The Castle has stunning views across the landscape, and, in other parts of the city, you can climb the 287 steps to the top of Sir Walter Scott’s monument in the centre of town. For more rural views, try Arthur’s Seat, a rock formation in the middle of Holyrood Park, which is best climbed after a good night’s sleep at our Edinburgh bed and breakfast!

We hope that you can stay with us whilst you’re exploring Edinburgh, and we know that you’ll want to come back again. To see if we have availability on the days you want to visit, just call us on +44 (0)131 539 2485 or email enquiries@craigievar-bedandbreakfast.co.uk
